The idea emerged as we were planning a workshop entitled 'D'you get it?: Techniques for exploting jokes in the ELT classroom' which we ran at the 2009 TESOL-Spain convention in Seville. Below you can download the dossier we handed out at the end of the session and which contains jokes as well as a few ideas for exploiting them. Please contribute to this online ELT jokes community by sending us your jokes and suggestions for using them in class. Also, if you have any teaching ideas for any of the jokes you find on this site do not hesitate to send them along - we will be more than happy to put them up along with the contributor's name. Clicking on the following links you will find jokes for the ELT classroom sorted into three main proficiency levels. You will find that for some of the jokes there are hints as to the grammar or vocabulary they can be used for. If you have any further suggestions they will be more than welcome and so will be any recommendations for improvements. If you spot any mistakes in the jokes or feel the level is just not right drop us a line and we will make the necessary amendments.
Send your jokes and ideas to: tefl@anglocentres.com Enjoy!
